BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

What a bakery should consider
before choosing a box

  • Box height

For cakes with toppers, candles or tall piping, measure from the base to the highest point and choose a box height with room to spare, so the lid does not press on the decoration.

  • Oily or buttery bakes

Line croissants, brownies and butter-rich bakes with baking paper or a tray before boxing, so oil does not reach the printed surface.

  • A window onto the bake

The look of the bake is what sells it. A window box shows the real product on the shelf and in online shop photos.

Choose a width and length that leave a little room around the cake base, so the cake goes in and out without touching the sides.

MATERIAL & ARTWORK

Materials, finishes and what to prepare
for bakery boxes

  • Paper

White-back folding board gives a clean surface and bright colour, good for pastel branding. Kraft paper gives a natural, homemade look. For bakes placed directly in the box, ask the team about a paper spec suited to food contact before ordering.

  • Coatings and special finishes

Matte lamination feels soft and cuts glare; gloss lamination brightens colour and reduces scuffs. Gold foil on the logo makes birthday cake boxes and gift boxes feel special.

  • What to prepare

The size of the largest item (width × length × height) including toppers, the number of boxes used per month, and a high-resolution logo file.

FAQ

Questions about bakery boxes

  • Can a cake box be made to a custom size?

It depends on the box style. Some styles accept any width, length and height within their range; others come in set sizes. The price is calculated for the chosen size on each style's spec page.

  • Can bakes go directly into the box?

It depends on the paper and the bake. Before ordering boxes for bakes placed directly inside, ask the team about the paper spec, or line the bake with baking paper or a tray.

  • How early should boxes be ordered for festive seasons?

Production takes 7–10 business days from artwork approval and payment. For New Year, Valentine's Day or Mother's Day, order well before the date and allow time for artwork changes and delivery.

  • How thick should the paper be for a cake box?

A pound cake is heavier than small pastries, so choose a thicker paper and a size that fits the cake closely, so it does not slide on the way home. Paper thickness is measured in grams (gsm): the higher the number, the thicker and stiffer the paper.

How ordering works

  1. Choose a box style in the shop, enter the size and quantity, then rotate the box shape in 3D before ordering.

  2. Compare paper types and weights (gsm) to match the weight and use of the product.

  3. Send the artwork as PDF, JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB, after adding the item to the cart.

  4. Gloss or matte lamination reduces scuffs on the box surface and changes how the print feels.

  5. Add emphasis with foil stamping, embossing or spot UV, where the box style offers it.
